Scientific Materialism: Interacting with Others

Every phone call, every e-mail, every meeting, every face to face conversation is a unique opportunity to either shine, comfort, ignore,or worse yet spread negativity and anger upon other human beings.

Even if some people truly deserve to be dealt with harshly, the chances are that life has probably already given them some payback, in one form, or another because of their inconsiderate comments or actions.

In other words we do not need to seek revenge upon others.

Living Well is Often Times the Best Revenge !!!

Having said this it is easy to disreagard others because of anincreasingly popular world view that many American men unconsciously have drifted toward.

In his book, Infinite Life, Robert Thurman describes the nihiistic, materialistic, doctrine so dominant in western society today.

He states:

"We are the product of a completely involuntary, utterly purposeless evoulution started by the random collection of elements. Our personal sensitivity is therefore nothing but an accident and an illusion. Our lives are utterly meaningless, since at any time we could die and disappear back into the totally uncaring nothingness that is assumed to be our fundamental reality."

Add to this our bleak and disheartening view of the cosmos:

"We see ourselves as billons of germs crawling on the wafer-thin skin of a boiling rock, in a tiny envelope of earth, water and air. We are composed of imperceptible particles zipping around with nauseating unpredictibility, themselves somehow sustained by subatomic waves or elusive particles that are mere vibrations or probabilities. All this somehow holds together to form an illusionary consciousness for our terminal selves, and there apparantly are no other such beings throughout what we perceive as an infinite, cold, mostly dark and impersonal universe."

"Small wonder we secretly long for death and oblivion, thinking of it sublimely as restful sleep, dreamless sleep, a welcome escape from this untenable situation."

"Small wonder we secretly loathe ourselves, considering human beings an unfortunate accident, badly made machines ill-suited for a heartless environment. Small wonder we fear expressing any sensitivity for other beings, who also have no incentives to show us kindness. Small wonder we are too lazy to engage in a meaningful way with our surroundings."

Thurman goes on to say:
"Filled with such a powerful poison of crippling self-loathing and paralyzing depression, how does our innately human creativity stand even the slightest chance of emerging?"
Given the choice of believing in a compassionate, loving God, a greater power, or spirit, the promise of an everlasting life and soul, or scientific materialism, which doctrine would you take ???

The choice seems fairly clear, does it not ??

The 2008 Presidential Election: Who Represents Our Men?

Joe Biden. Sam Brownback. Hillary Clinton. John Edwards. Jim Gilmore. Rudolph Giuliani. Mike Huckabee. Duncan Hunter. John McCain. Barack Obama. Ron Paul. Bill Richardson. Mitt Romney. Tom Tancredo. Tommy Thompson.

Those are all names discussed as possible or actual presidential candidates for the 2008 election. All of those people have been incredibly silent about men's issues. Why is that?

We hear and read talk about the "black vote," the "Hispanic vote," the "soccer mom vote," and the "women's vote." We see the endless pandering to special interest groups and large corporations. Who is talking about the men's vote? Are we not one half of the population? Who is presenting a platform (or even thinking about one) that addresses men's concerns?

There is one candidate, Dr. Mark Klein, who is testing the waters for a possible run for the Republican nomination in 2008. On his Web site, Dr. Klein says he is considering a run for the presidency to address "the heartless destruction of stable, affordable American middle class family life." Dr. Klein observes:
The family structure is the backbone of our society and it continues to collapse
under current Federal policy, which continues to increase the stress on
middle class families and encourages divorce.

That's an interesting perspective and one that interests a lot of our Frank at 40 guys. It's not a perfect agenda (is there such a thing?), but it's clearly a good start in the right direction. Have a look at Dr. Klein's site. Maybe he is not your choice of candidate. That's fine; reasonable men will differ and we're not going to make politics the raison d'ĂȘtre of this blog, but I invite you to start considering these questions. I've offered one candidate who is addressing these points. If you don't like what he has to say, at least start creating your own list of issues--things that are important to you as a man in the USA today--and explore the candidates' positions on those issues. You owe it to yourself. You owe it to your family. You owe it to your country.

How Much Longer Can You Keep Bull****ting Yourself?

Every goddammed group of crack pots, wing nuts, and lunatic fringe junkies seems to be far better organized and effective than us !!!! The average American male !!!! What the hell has happened ??? How did we all fall so far off the cliff ???

The answer is very simple. Laziness.

We collectively became numb, docile and lazy, placing our entertainment and material needs far above the civic duties we needed to regularly practice to keep our country and society from unraveling.

The true kick in the ass here is that all these entertainment and material needs we have become addicted to have in fact become the cause of our societal problems.

This is not quantum physics, gentlemen. We simply need to start telling the truth to each other about how we feel, and what we have been hoping for.

We have infinitely more in common than we think.

If we do not begin to communicate, network, organize and help each other, all we have been lucky enough to inherit will slowly be taken away from us.

Please get involved right now !!!!!

How Google Makes Us All More Stupid

Google Mission Statement... To organize the world's information and make it universally accesible and useful.

Have you honestly ever heard of a bigger crock of sh*t in your entire life???

Unfortunately we have all turned into opium addicts now, with the internet becoming our drug of choice. Two single young men (Larry Paige) and (Sergey Brin) are today worth about $30 BILLION DOLLARS because of this insane addiction to using Google when searching for information.

What these two gentlemen choose to do with the immense power, influence, and privilege that their fresh billions will afford them, still remains to be seen.

History has shown us that typically, when great fortunes such as these were suddenly accumulated, they were often times cloaked behind unscrupulous people, and sinister circumstances.

Paige and Brin are only 33 and will have many years to do right or wrong by their good fortune.

THE BIG PROBLEM WITH the Google boys' IDEA IS THAT INFORMATION IS NOT KNOWLEDGE, AND KNOWLEDGE IS NOT WISDOM !!!!!

How much information, technology, and data do you need splattered through your brain cells before you understand that the more information people throw at you, the less they want you to know?

Information, data and technology must always be delivered with an incentive or they quickly disappear.

The incentive for today’s technology is to constantly find new ways to separate you from your money by consuming their goods and services. How can any of this be helpfull??

God Bless Bill Gates for having the balls and conviction to do good with his billions and at the same time, do it so well that even Warren Buffet chose to follow his good example, by combining their fortunes together.

These types of events, are indeed quite rare.

Unfortunately, do you realize with all the bullsh*t and hype surrounding the internet, the largest, most successful, most profitable segments of this technology are online pornography, and online gambling !!!!!

How pathetic and sad is this ?????

Around the age of forty, most men begin to confront the painful reality that they might not be getting what they had hoped for from their life and work.

ITS OK !!!! THESE FEELINGS ARE NORMAL. DO NOT QUIT YOUR JOB. DO NOT COMPLETELY CHANGE CAREERS. DO NOT START SPENDING LIKE A DRUNKEN SAILOR. DO NOT DIVORCE YOUR LOVING AND FAITHFUL WIFE FOR SOME BIMBO.

You simply need to get together with the guys and start talking things through a bit. You will soon understand that fellowship and some bonding time with the guys will fill this stature, status, and materialistic void.

Get your soul back, get your balls back and just start getting involved.

We are not asking for any long-term commitments. We simply want to hear from you and listen to your stories.

Share your wisdom. Tell us what you have learned.

Let us all learn and become wise together.

Go Bears !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
